Once upon a time, way back in the good old days of 4th grade, our class was having our scheduled Friday spelling test. After many a months of doing these, one kid finally asked the teacher the question. Why do we have to take test?

This gave our teacher the oppertunity to either hiss a quiet, throw down one of her many punishents, or simply give him the classic 'cause i said so'. But istead she said somthing that has stuck with me for a very long time.

And I quote, "because you all don't have windows in your head so we can look in and see that you know this stuff. Tests are our way of checking what you have learned.

So now that I am up to my ears in finals, I keep rethinking what she said. It makes perfect sense, and even adds a bit of justice to my piles of homework. But you know what? Just cause it makes sense dosen't mean I have to like it.

I wish brains had windows--imagine staring at all that squishy grey stuff swirling around inside.
